Crop Report: Hello Fall!

Our favorite season is here! We pressed our first batch of apple cider on Tuesday so it’s officially fall in our world! Our front porch is loaded with beautiful winter squash, assorted pumpkins and colorful mums...we are in love! Fall, it is so nice to see you again!

The first cider press went very well. To ensure that our cider is of the highest quality we press in small batches therefore quantities are limited. Don’t sweat, if you miss out on this batch we will be pressing weekly throughout the season. For our home brewers, we recommend waiting a few weeks before purchasing in bulk. Later presses will have a more complex flavor.

Wow, our apple crop looks great this year! Head out to our orchard this weekend to check it out for yourselves. We will have u-pick Jonagold this weekend. Jonagold is an excellent all purpose apple. Crisp, juicy, excellent for eating.

It’s going to be a prefect early fall weekend in Yellow Springs! Pssst..the sunflowers across the street from our farm market are in bloom! Big shoutout to Tecumseh Land Trust for planting this beautiful field every year! Perfect weekend plan...breakfast at Sunrise Cafe, a few photos in the sunflower field, and a stroll out to the orchard to pick some apples for the week ahead. We couldn’t think of a more perfect day!

A new variety to look for in our farm market this weekend is Early Fuji. Fuji apples are sweet, crunchy and juicy. Fuji is a large apple, it is great for eating and a perfect addition to salads. You can pick your own Jonagold this weekend but we will not have them in our farm market until early next week.

We started to pick Asian Pears yesterday..they are delicious!

Thanks for checking in this week!
