Crop Report: Goldrush Harvest

Thanks for checking in this week! After a rainy start to the week we were able to harvest Goldrush! It was a perfect sunny day for harvesting! Full list of apple varieties and produce available in our Farm Market to follow.

Goldrush is now available by the pound, peck, half bushel and bushel. We had a great crop this year and still have more to pick! We will have Goldrush available through December.

Here's a little information about one of our favorite apple varieties:

  • Goldrush is our most planted tree and a local favorite. It is an excellent all-purpose apple. We love it for eating, baking, and sauce!

  • It was named Goldrush to emphasize its unique golden color and "rush" of flavor.

  • Goldrush is very firm, crisp, and juicy

  • Its complex flavor has a delicious spice that makes it an excellent addition to desserts and sauce. We especially love the addition of Goldrush to our fresh pressed apple cider.

  • Goldrush is a GREAT keeper. It can remain crisp and flavorful (in cool storage) for at least seven months, yes, seven months! We recommend keeping apples in the crisper of your refrigerator for freshness.

  • Goldrush is one of the only apple varieties known to actually increase flavor in storage. It's pretty amazing!

The season for U-Pick apples has come to an end at our orchard. Thank you all for a great 2020 u-pick season. We loved sharing our favorite fall activity with you! We still have lots of apples available in our Farm Market and we will continue to harvest late season varieties in upcoming weeks.

Pumpkins and gourds are still available at our Farm Market. There's still time to pick out the perfect jack o'lantern for Halloween!

One of the best things about fall is the abundant selection of winter squash. Its the perfect addition for an autumn twist to your weekly menu. We love butternut, you really can't go wrong! This Fall Harvest salad is delicious! Feel free to substitute butternut with your favorite winter squash! Recipe below.

If it was acceptable to eat waffles for every meal, we would. These Cider Pumpkin Waffles make the best autumn breakfast! They pair great with hot apple cider or apple cider mimosas! Yay for the weekend! If you're heading out for breakfast this weekend, Sunrise Cafe has pumpkin pancakes on the menu (made with pie pumpkins grown on our farm) that are AMAZING!

Have a wonderful weekend! Our Farm Market is open seven days a week until the end of December.
