Crop Report: Ohio Blackberries

Thanks for checking in this week. First of the season Ohio blackberries are now available in our Farm Market. Lots of fresh produce available as we head into the weekend. Full list of produce to follow.

We've had a lot of questions this week about U-Pick berries. We hope to start U-Pick for blackberries in a couple weeks. Red raspberries and black raspberries will follow. Our website and emailing list are always the best way to stay up-to-date with U-Pick. We will keep you updated as we get closer to harvest. Until then, you can't beat the fresh picked berries available in our Farm Market. The blackberries are delicious! Recipe for one of our favorite blackberry cocktails to follow.

We are still taking orders for tart Michigan cherries. For those of you who are already on the list, we are still expecting the cherries to arrive mid to late July. Here's a little info about the cherries:

Fresh & pitted
Easy to split up and freeze
10 or 30 pound bucket
Pricing determined after harvest

This week's fresh picked peach variety is Contender. Peaches are still coming from Georgia. We hope to start harvesting our own peaches in a few weeks. Updates can be found here!

Contender peaches are EXCELLENT for canning and freezing. If you're thinking about putting up some peaches for the winter we recommend this batch. Peaches are available by the pound, 10 pound peck, and 25 pound box.

Summer nights on the patio remind us why we suffer through the chilly Ohio winters. The Blackberry Bourbon Smash does not disappoint. We've really been enjoying a savory twist on peaches. This time of the year we are eating about four peaches a day so we like to mix it up! Try peaches this weekend on the grill, so good! A customer shared their twist on a summer burger topped with grilled peaches and a grilled candy onion. We tested it out this week and absolutely loved it! We decided to add some goat cheese.
