Crop Report: U-Pick Pumpkins

Hi everyone! It's been a lovely fall week here at the orchard. This brisk weather has us thinking soup, hot cider, and pumpkin everything! We've been picking lots of decorative pumpkins and gourds. It's time to start decorating! The rain this week has put us a little behind. Look for some new apple varieties this weekend, we're picking as weather permits.

So far it looks like this will be a great weekend for u-pick. U-pick apple varieties for Saturday & Sunday will be Melrose and Golden/Yellow Delicious. U-pick pumpkins will also begin this weekend. U-Pick pumpkins will be 7 days a week.

Summer produce continues to wind down. We still have plenty of tomatoes, green beans, and other summer favorites.

If you haven't stopped by to see our giant pumpkin yet it is a must! The monster pumpkin was grown by local farmer Joe Fulton. Bring out your family and friends to take a perfect fall photo!

We've had a lot of questions about Goldrush (our absolute favorite variety). Goldrush should be ready to harvest about the third week of October. Stay posted! Our crop looks great this year, it's been an awesome season for apples so far!

Apples to look for this weekend:

Melrose: Melrose is our state apple! It is firm, crisp, sweet and juicy. Melrose has an excellent flavor and is known as a fantastic all-purpose apple.

Golden/Yellow Delicious: Mild and sweet, Golden Delicious is particularly good for snacks, fresh desserts, and salads. Overall Golden Delicious is a good all-purpose apple.
