Crop Report: Goldrush is Here!

The wait is over, look for Goldrush apples in our farm market this weekend! Goldrush is one of our most popular varieties and one of the last to harvest. It is well worth the wait! We will be picking today and tomorrow so expect to see them by Friday afternoon. Another late variety to look for this weekend is Granny Smith.

We are planning to do pick your own Goldrush again this weekend as weather permits. Saturday 9am - 6pm and Sunday 11am - 4pm. Stay posted for u-pick updates.

There is still a decent amount of carving pumpkins left in our u-pick patch. If you haven't carved a halloween pumpkin yet, now is the time! Our u-pick patch is open seven days a week. If you're late to the fall decorating party, no worries! We have lots of decorative gourds and other fall staples.

La Pampa mobile will be here Friday 4pm - 7pm and Saturday 12pm - 5pm as long as the rain stays away. Swing by for lunch or dinner this weekend!

Next Thursday, November 1st, we will be switching to our winter hours. Winter hours will be Monday-Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 11am - 5pm. We will be closing for the season on December 23rd. We will have plenty of apples through December and will continue to press cider until we close.

Varieties to look for this weekend:

Goldrush, Granny Smith, Winesap

Here's a little more info about our most recently harvested varieties:

  • Goldrush: Hands down our most favorite variety. Goldrush has a complex flavor of intense tart with sweet and spicy notes. It is firm, crisp, and juicy. Goldrush is an excellent all-purpose apple. It is a good addition to pies and crisps. Your family will love the delicious flavor Goldrush adds to holiday favorites. We love them just for eating as well. Wether your looking for an addition to savory or sweet Goldrush is the way to go. Goldrush is a great keeper, it remains fresh for months in cool storage.

  • Granny Smith: Firm and crisp with mildly tart flavor. Granny Smith is a good all purpose apple. It's your classic green apple. For those who don't like an especially sweet pie or sauce, Granny Smith is a good base apple.
